Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 June 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how Lerne-Deutsch-Online.com (The German Lessons) ("we", "us", "controller") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you visit https://lerne-deutsch-online.com/ and use our online German language courses. We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the Serbian Law on Personal Data Protection where relevant to our users.

1. Data Controller and Representative in Serbia

Data controller: Lerne-Deutsch-Online.com (The German Lessons).

Website: https://lerne-deutsch-online.com/

Contact email: info@lerne-deutsch-online.com

Controller registered address: Stahnsdorfer Str. 95, 14482 Potsdam, Germany

As the controller's registered office is outside the Republic of Serbia, and we offer services to and monitor the behaviour of data subjects in Serbia, we have appointed a Representative in the Republic of Serbia in accordance with Article 4, paragraph 3 of the Serbian Law on Personal Data Protection (ZZPL). For all matters relating to the processing of your personal data, you may contact our Representative at: [Representative name], [Representative address in Serbia], [Representative email].

You may contact either the controller (email above) or the Representative in the Republic of Serbia to exercise your rights.

2. Data We Collect

Information you provide: name, email address, phone number, billing address (if required), order and payment details (via WooCommerce and payment providers), and messages sent through contact forms.

Information collected automatically: IP address, device and browser type, browser language, visit time, pages viewed, referring URL, and cookie data.

Data via analytics tools (with consent): on-site behaviour (clicks, scrolling, time on page), sessions, device and screen resolution — via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. We use Google Search Console to analyse site performance in Google Search (aggregated search data, technical site data).

We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal data unless you explicitly provide them in communication with us.

3. Purpose and Legal Basis

Contract performance — account registration, course purchases, delivery of access (e.g. Zoom links), and customer support.

Legal obligation — accounting, tax, and other statutory requirements.

Legitimate interests — website security, fraud prevention, and technical improvement of the site.

Consent — analytics cookies and tools (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity), marketing communications, and other non-essential cookies where consent is required.

4. Cookies and Analytics Tools

Essential cookies: we use cookies required for the website to function (e.g. session, language, shopping cart, Polylang settings). These do not require consent.

Google Analytics (GA4): we use GA4 to measure visits, traffic sources, and user behaviour on the site. GA4 may set cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) and collect IP address (truncated), device identifiers, pages viewed, and interactions. Enabled only with your consent. More information: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Microsoft Clarity: we use Clarity for heatmaps, session recordings (sensitive fields such as passwords are masked), and user experience analysis. Clarity sets cookies (e.g. _clck, _clsk) and collects data on clicks, scrolling, and mouse movement. Enabled only with your consent. More information: https://privacy.microsoft.com/

Google Search Console (GSC): GSC does not track visitors in the same way as GA or Clarity. We use it as a site owner tool for insights into Google Search performance (queries, clicks, indexing, technical issues). Google processes this data under its privacy policy.

Analytics tools are loaded only after you give consent in the cookie banner. You may withdraw consent at any time via the banner or your browser settings.

You can control and delete cookies in your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect site functionality.

5. Recipients and Processors

Your data may be shared with trusted third-party service providers: hosting, WooCommerce, payment providers (e.g. PayPal, Stripe, or others enabled on the site), email delivery, Zoom (for online classes), Google LLC (Google Analytics, Google Search Console), Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft Clarity), and security tools.

We require processors to protect data in line with applicable law.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. International Data Transfers

Hosting, payment, email, video, and analytics services (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Microsoft Clarity) may involve transfers of personal data to countries outside the Republic of Serbia, in particular the USA (Google LLC, Microsoft Corporation).

Transfers of personal data to countries outside the Republic of Serbia are carried out only with appropriate safeguards in accordance with Article 65 of the ZZPL, primarily through Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, or on the basis of an adequacy decision (e.g. EU/EEA member states). Where we use major providers such as Google LLC and Microsoft Corporation, their data processing agreements include contractual safeguards aligned with applicable Serbian and international requirements.

7. Data Retention

Order and payment data are retained as long as necessary to fulfil the contract and meet legal obligations (typically up to 5 years for accounting purposes).

Contact enquiries are kept until resolved, for up to 12 months unless a longer period is legally required.

Consent-based data is kept until consent is withdrawn or the purpose no longer applies.

Server logs are generally kept for up to 90 days unless longer retention is required for security.

Data in Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity is retained according to those services' settings and retention policies (typically 14 to 26 months, depending on configuration).

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or destruction (including SSL encryption, access controls, and system updates).

No internet transmission is completely risk-free.

9. Your Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to: be informed; access your data; rectify inaccurate data; request erasure; restrict processing; object to processing based on legitimate interests; withdraw consent; and request data portability where applicable.

To exercise your rights, email info@lerne-deutsch-online.com. We will respond within 30 days where required by law.

10. Supervisory Authority

If you believe your data is processed unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. For users in Serbia: Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, Bulevar kralja Aleksandra 15, 11000 Belgrade — https://www.poverenik.rs.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page with the date of the last update.
